Recently, I had a health scare that landed me in the ER at 2:30 in the morning. I did not call my Dom and tell him what was going on. I waited until 6:30 am and then casually texted “Can’t make our date tonight, I’m in the hospital”. Boy, was that a mistake! But like all mistakes, it is an opportunity to learn and change our behaviors for the better.
My Dom arrived at the hospital a short while after getting my text and told me I should have called him during the night if I was having a problem. I realized that he is more than just my Dom. He is my protector. He is my champion. Part of his role is to make sure I am okay, both in and out of the bedroom. I thought I had to minimize my problems and not trouble him. I was wrong. He wanted to be there by my side and help me. It is such a comfort to know that I can lean on him and he will be there for me.
As always, this should not be abused. One cannot cry wolf if there is no wolf. Your Dom will see through the ruse and grow weary of games. However, if you are truly having a bad day, your car breaks down, or you wind up in the hospital, your first call should be to your Dom. If he cannot physically be there, he can, at the very least, offer support, counsel or help problem solve the situation to find the best solution. You do not need to sho\ulder the burden alone.
